Has there been a rash of transmission issues with the WRX these past recent year models? would i be better off getting a STI since the parts should be better from what I read or should i avoid the wrx until they figure out their recent mgfr woes? read elsewhere online that subaru has been having lots of warranty issues and one of the execs aint happy about the troubles. car has been in the shop for this fix for almost 30 days straight now.Ĭonsidering having to lemon it since it's been having so many issues in such a short amount of time. when they finally got that part fixed as they were test driving it they said now it was making a totally new noise from the front of the transmission that wasn't there when they were trouble shooting the rear diff bearing and they would have to tear it all apart again and SOA wants them to inspect every part of the transmission. that they think maybe when they had the transmission apart the bearing dried up. They checked it out and said it was the rear differential bearing.
They made it sound like they may have caused the chip putting it back in but either way replaced it no issues but lead to about a 7-8 day repair time in shop.įast forward to 10.5k miles on it start hearing a whirring noise that was speed dependent.
while it was being put back together they said they found a chip in the main drive shaft and had to replace that. replaced it under warranty didn't say it showed any signs of abuse. they said the 3rd/4th fork was out of spec as well as some issue with the 3rd and 4th synchros. just to be safe mentioned it to them at the service desk so they checked for any issues. all other gears no issues, i've seen on forums. When i took it in for the 6000 mile oil change had them look into the infamous 4th gear vibration on the shifter stick. never red lined it or ever really had a need to ever go above 4500 rpm as it has the power to get up and go without having to step on it. other than that followed the break in procedure like manual/dealer specified. dealer had to do a lot exchange so the only unkown was how the first 90 miles went onto it. So got a new 2019 wrx last September with short shift. Preface: 40 years old, not a first time stick driver.
